Jennifer Howell

My name is Jennifer Howell. I grew up in Chattanooga and got my bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Tennessee Technological University. I moved to Springfield in 1993 and worked at CEI (now called Johnson Electric) for 12 years making automotive air-conditioning components first as a manufacturing engineer, then a quality engineer, and later an interim quality engineering manager. I loved my job but always felt like I had missed my calling to be a teacher. In 2005 I took a leap of faith and got my master's in Education from Austin Peay and became a teacher. I was a math and science teacher at Coopertown Middle School for 11 years. In the Spring and Summer of 2013, I worked as a part-time process engineer at Electrolux.  In 2016 I became the Engineering teacher at Greenbrier High School. As of 2021, I am excited to launch a new 9-12 grade engineering program at Innovation Academy! Together with my husband, we have four daughters and two dogs. My dad moved in in 2018 with his two dogs, so that makes four. My hobbies are gardening, trumpet, singing, camping, and of course, playing with dogs.
