Good day parents and families,

I hope this message finds you healthy and well.  As we contend with changing information on a daily basis due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and the closure of schools, I wanted to give you some information to answer some questions you may have.

  • The 180-day requirement of attending school has been waived by the State Department of Education. This means, we do not plan on extending the school year.
  • All state assessments (TNReady, EOC, WIDA, etc.) have been canceled for this spring.
  • Most proms have been postponed, and we hope to have a date that is before school lets out for the summer.Your administrator will be in contact when these important events are rescheduled.
  • At this time, graduations have not been canceled or rescheduled.High school students will be receiving information soon on how and when they can pick up their graduation materials ordered from Jostens.
  • Starting next week, your child’s teachers and administrators will be in contact with them regarding learning opportunities that will continue until we return to school. For many of our students, this will be through Microsoft Teams through their Office 365.These students are already well-versed in this process, and it should be a smooth transition. For other students, this communication could come via email, telephone, Class DOJO, Remind 101, and other ways our teachers communicate during the school year. The teachers will be providing feedback on any work that your child completes.
  • For those of you without internet, we are setting up hotspots at all of our high schools. At this time, Springfield High School parking lot has Wi-Fi access and can handle approx. 50 users at one time.We have enhanced the Access Points at the other 4 high schools and you should able to access internet in those parking lots as well.
  • On April 6th, we will be delivering food at bus stops instead of the feeding locations used until April 3rd.I hope you were able to submit the survey phoned to you on Thursday afternoon. This information will help us continue our feeding program efficiently and deliver instruction effectively.

If you have any questions, please contact our office at (615)384-5588 or your school office.

Respectfully,

Dr. Causey
