Where is the application available?
The application is available at https://ia.rcstn.net.

What is S.T.E.A.M.?
S.T.E.A.M. is an acronym which stands for science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.

When is the application due?
All applications must be submitted electronically by March 1, 2023.

When will I find out if my child is accepted?
Letters with your child’s acceptance status will be mailed on Monday, April 10, 2023. You may inquire about the status via email by contacting [email protected] after Monday, April 10, 2023.

If my child is accepted into the program, when do I have to make a commitment, and how do I do that?
You must sign a parent/scholar commitment letter by Monday, May 1, 2023.

What are the eligibility requirements?
Scholars who are going into the 6th, 7th, 8th, or 9th grade for the school year starting 2023 must submit a complete application by March 1, 2023. Report card grades, assessment data, and teacher recommendations will be reviewed to complete the qualification process.

How are scholars chosen to be in the program?
If more scholars apply than there are seats available, there will be a lottery.

Can my child participate in athletics?
Yes, more information on TSSAA guidelines can be found on https://ia.rcstn.net.

Is transportation provided?
Yes, the district does offer transportation to Innovation Academy.

Are applications only open for incoming sixth graders?
No, you can apply as an incoming 7th, 8th, or 9th grade scholar, but there is limited space in those classes.

Will there be an informational parent meeting?
Yes, two informational meetings will be offered at the Innovation Academy. Parents may attend on February 1, 2023 or February 2, 2023 at 6:00 p.m.

Will there be any orientation or activities through the summer?
Yes, there will be a S.T.E.A.M. camp open to all incoming scholars.
