What is the House System?
The house system is an idea adopted from Ron Clark Academy to give scholars the opportunity to connect with scholars across classes and grades that they may not normally have a chance to interact with. This helps scholars gain more friendships and create a family-like culture at our school. We currently have over 750 scholars at Springfield Middle School alone! The house system will make our school seem a little bit smaller.
Scholars “spun the wheel” and found out which house they are in on Tuesday. Lots of excitement!
The house system creates:
Unity
A change of culture
Makes our school seem smaller/more personal
Provides opportunities for students to connect across grades
Promotes core character traits
A sense of pride
To create leadership opportunities
What is a House Family?
A house family is a small group of scholars assigned within Houses. Scholars are assigned to SMS teachers and staff as their “house parents”.
